The discourse about racial quota system in the online journalism

Considering that jornalism should represent the diversity of society thought, the aim of this paper was to study the senses constructed by Folha Online and Portal de Notícias da Globo in the approach of racial quota system in the Brazilian universities. Texts published during 2007 were analyzed, from the perspective of discourse analysis. It was observed the predominance of discourse against the racial quota system, based in these arguments: it will be a new form of discrimination, unconstitutional and it will reinforce the racism. By other side, the discourse which arguments that racial quota system could correct historical distortion and the good performance of students admitted by the racial quota system is cited few times.
