The ‘WE’ OF PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS”: THE FAMILY, ACCORDING TO AXEL HONNETH
THE FAMILY, ACCORDING TO AXEL HONNETH
Abstract
Based on an excerpt from Axel Honneth's work, The Right to Freedom (2015), we seek to debate the theory of justice, or social justice theory, presented by the author in the context of the family institution. It is the phase in which Honneth points out that it is from recognition that the individual achieves his emancipation, and, without experiencing recognition in each of the spheres: love, right and social appreciation, he will not be free, since the lack of recognition in any of these stages, leads the subject to subordination. The objective is to reconstruct Honneth's main arguments on the subject especially that of justice, from the context of affective relationships, in the family nucleus, through which one wants to present his presentation to categorize reciprocal recognition. , as well as for the constitution of the process of formation of the moral and ethical values of a democratic society.
