Abstract

Although in different degrees  depending on the context, the Social Economy iniciatives have experienced a renewed  protagonism since the colapse of the Welfare State system.

Recently, this situation has only increased due to the social issues arisen by the implementation of neoliberal policies in the  region and the world, and by the new  challenges that globalization has brought.

Social Economy´s “cultural  interweaving” ( Defourny, 2001:47) infuse it with  pecularities which enriches its practice and theorical frame, but at the same time  causes difficulties around its conceptualization. The lattest  enables  the reference about Social Economy ´s “ambiguity and imprecision”

This common place  on the debate about Social Econom motivates the  exploration of the differences that feed it, the way those differences materialize and, their theoric and practical implications.
