Phytossociological study of an area of savanna, Pirassununga (SP, southeastern Brazil)

Abstract

This survey was performed in a fragment of the savanna in Pirassununga (SP, southeastern Brazil), using 34 plots of 10 x 10 m each, where individuals with PBH equal or higher than 10 cm were sampled. In total 730 individuals were marked belonging to 33 families, 60 genera and 80 species. The most important species were Copaifera langsdorfii, Anadenanthera falcata and Siparuna guianensis. The families with the highest number of species were Myrtaceae, Lauraceae and Euphorbiaceae. The Shannon diversity index was 3.45 nats/individuals and the equability (J) was 0.78 nats/individuals.
