Abstract

This article proposes a discussion of the criteria of noticiability for the occupation of daily newspaper first pages of local and regional range in Paraná considering possible effects of the presence or absence of photographic images related to social subjects that gain space in the most important pages of newspapers. As the fieldwork data collection comprises the period of the 2006 electoral campaigns coverage, how this subject is addressed in the newspapers first pages are also analyzed. Therefore, this study aims to investigate if the photograph has a relevant impact on the presence of social subjects in the newspapers first pages; if the electoral campaign subject gains importance in these newspapers, and in addition, if the local newspapers present the same standards for the selection of public subjects for the first pages composition.
