Abstract

Aiming to understand the communicational and affective potentialities of music, it is observed the role of timbre in the formation of blocks of sensation that provoke perception to cross thresholds of ecstasy and trance, also responsible for potentializing meanings and the creation of percepts during musical performances. We interviewed members of Brazilian indie rock bands active between 2015 and 2020 and analyzed both their phonographic records and live shows published on Youtube. We then describe the processes of singularization hat have been developed. The results suggest that the analyzed blocks of sensation, arising from the interaction of human and non-human elements, expand the virtuality of timbre and potentiate aesthetics and politics within the scope of Brazilian indie rock.
