Em defesa das humanidades na formação: a educação democrática das futuras gerações

Abstract

The article aims to systematize some reflections on the relationship between education and democratic society based on the thinking Martha Nussbaum, (2017; 2005) and Gert Biesta (2013). The text reconstructs the position of the two authors, showing that although there are some divergences, both defend the presence of the humanities in education as essential for the survival of democracy. As a counterpoint to this position, the text briefly analyzes the reform of Brazilian high school, produced by Provisional Decree in 2016 and incorporated into the Law of Directives and Bases of Education (LDB - Law nº 9.394, of December 20, 1996) in 2017; this reform weakens curricular components such as philosophy and sociology in a specific way and the humanities in general.

Elisete Medianeira Tomazetti, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria

Possui Licenciatura Plena em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1985), mestrado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1991) e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade de São Paulo (2000). Atualmente é professora Titular da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Departamento de Metodologia do Ensino. Atua no Curso de Filosofia/UFSM nas disciplinas de Didática da Filosofia, Pesquisa para o Ensino de Filosofia e Estágio Curricular Supervisionado. Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa/CNPQ FILJEM (Filosofia, Cultura e Educação). Coordenadora do LEAF - Laboratório de Ensino e Aprendizagem de Filosofia, do Curso de Filosofia/UFSM. É professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, na Linha de Pesquisa 2: Políticas públicas educacionais, práticas educativas e suas interfaces investigando e orientando nos seguintes temas: ensino de filosofia, educação e juventude, ensino médio. Coordenou o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da UFSM nos anos de 2010 e 2011 e o Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação à Docência - PIBID/Filosofia/UFSM no período de 2010 a 2015. Bolsista Produtividade CNPQ.
