Kairos, rhetoric and ethics in Gorgias Leontini

Gorgias Leontini applies the popular notion of kairós (“opportunity” in greek) not only to rhetoric, but also establishes it as an ethical principle along with the principle of social order. It will be proper of the rhetor, following the kairós, to praise those who collaborate to social order and to recriminate those who provoke disorder in society.Downloads
