Abstract

With Hegel the concept of life may be understood in an existential meaning since this human phenomenon may not be reduced to a fact of a biological order. But one may also consider life as a modality of an Aristotelian category. In the existential meaning, the Phenomenology of the Spirit is the work best presenting the inscription of life within a framework where man faces his own finitude by means of a death struggle for life. According to the categorical meaning of the term, The Science of Logic is his work which, thanks to the concept of « idea of life » voices quite a new question about the world which is pretty far from the traditional meaning of the term "life".
