'Bien-penser' as the foundation of morals
Keywords:
Morality, Pascal, Bien-penserAbstract
The article discusses a hermeneutics of Pascal?s concept of “bien-penser” and the possibility of seeing it as the foundation of morality, particularly if one takes into account the autonomy of practical reason, in accordance with Kant?s ethics. The stoical background of Pascal?s proposition is understood in accordance with Modernity?s spiritual movement, whose great ethical challenge was the justification of morals in increasingly human and less theological terms.Downloads
