Ethics and the views of human being (between naturalism and the philosophy of existence)
Keywords:
Existence, Naturalism, Morality, EthicsAbstract
The paper discusses the impossibility of rendering the traditional European ethical projects (Deontology, Utilitarianism, Virtue ethics) compatible with the notions of human being postulated by contemporary naturalism and 20th century philosophy of existence. Most attempts to establish norms for ethical actions collide with a human being incapable of behaving in reasonable ways or even unable to help other people without taking account of their own benefit, as demanded by the prevailing definitions of morality. To the contrary, human choices appear to be opaque, disturbed by a series of conditions imposed both by nature and existence.Downloads
