The article addresses the criticisms and comments that Sartre does to Marx and Marxism in the work Notebooks for an Ethics. The emphasis of the article is on Sartre's understanding of Marx with regard to the question of history and morals. In order to understand the development of Sartre's criticisms, we provide a partially comparative analysis between texts from Marx and Sartre's evaluation of the theme in Notebooks for an Ethics. We deal with themes common to both ontological phenomenology and Marx's dialectical materialism such as the notion of alienation, the very notion of dialectics, but also Marxist themes such as work, alienation of work and the question of history itself.
