The present translation aims to contribute to the debate on Aristotle's philosophy of mind by enriching the discussion with the Portuguese translation of Terence Irwin's text, "Aristotle’s Theory of Mind," a key reference in the field. In his work On the Soul, Aristotle makes significant considerations about the mind, asserting that all living beings have a soul, with a subgroup possessing a mind. But to what extent can we draw parallels between contemporary philosophy of mind debates and Aristotle's reflections on the subject? In this context, Irwin argues that Aristotle's views on the soul and body can be fruitfully compared with the familiar options in the mind-body debates and that a careful comparison allows for the fairly definitive conclusion that Aristotle accepts a recognizably functionalist position.
