No gênero autobiográfico de escrita o narrador apresenta-nos relatos de vivências e reminiscências de certa época. Por meio desse tipo de narrativa, o autor apresenta sua trajetória de vida, eventualmente marcada por novas descobertas e pela busca do conhecimento de si. Para tanto, o narrador de escritos autobiográficos tende a descrever aspectos políticos, sociais e culturais de sua época, ao mesmo tempo em que agrega aos seus relatos impressões, sentimentos e emoções. Interessa-nos, no presente artigo, analisar como esse tipo de escrita está presente nos relatos de viagem de Goethe e Benjamin.
