The well-ordered society in J.-J. Rousseau: from love of self to love to order
Keywords:
Love to order, Love of self, Well-Ordered Society, Moral, Politics.Abstract
In this article, we will use as an input the idea of Order, present in both moral and political thinking of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In our work, we will discuss the concept of Love of self (amour-de-soi) and the notion of Love to order (amour de l'ordre), showing how the genevan thinker exposes such topical and underlines its relevance – at first moment –, pre-reflexive for the natural conservation of men and, – in a second moment –, given its expansion, for the formation of a well-ordered society. Thus, we will discuss that the formation of a well-ordered society, in our understanding, permeates the concept of Love of self and refers to the principle of Love to order.
