Abstract

O presente artigo esboça o debate contemporâneo sobre a leitura filosófica de filmes a partir da classificação de Wartenberg de dois polos opostos que definem o espectro de posições possíveis: o polo extremamente pró filosofia cinematográfica (Cavell, Mulhall, Cabrera) e aquele extremamente anti filosofia cinematográfica (Livingston). Ambas as posições concordam que na leitura filosófica a atenção ao particular é mobilizada. Na sequência, procuramos oferecer uma leitura de Rope (dir. Alfred Hitchcock, 1948) que exemplificasse tal atenção.
