Sobre os pressupostos morais do liberalismo político de John Rawls

Abstract

O presente texto fornece algumas considerações críticas da fundamentação restritamente política e autossustentável (freestanding) do liberalismo político de John Rawls. Seguindo uma linha de crítica comum a esse respeito, suponho que os pontos de partida da teoria de Rawls dão testemunho de seu comprometimento com um conteúdo moral anterior que extrapola as pretensões meramente políticas aventadas pelo autor. Tal conteúdo moral parece dizer respeito à realização da justiça e da estabilidade política. Se essa suposição estiver correta, então o projeto liberal de Rawls deve ser tomado como moral em sentido abrangente.
