Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss the theoretical and practical implications of the use of Internet resources to prepare materials for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. We shall focus on the reading comprehension under the discursive and social-interactional approaches; digital genres; the problem of the didactic transposition and their relation with the classroom work. We also consider the existing differences between the on-line and off-line approaches when it comes to the use of Internet-based texts in the Spanish as a foreign language classroom. The theoretical aspects are exemplified through an exercise of selection of materials and proposal of activities using Internet resources. This proposal is based on the results so-far obtained of a research that has been developed at UERJ about Spanish reading comprehension on digital environments/with digital resources. The paper highlights three aspects: (a) the importance of the preparation and planning of the teaching activities; (b) the need for teachers to maintain their continuous formation in order to benefit from a didactic attitude that is more adequate to their reality; (c) he specificities of the digital environment and their consequences in the teaching process for the development of adequate reading proficiency in Spanish as a foreign language.

Key words: Spanish foreign language, reading comprehension, Internet didactic resources.
