Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic brought challenges to companies, making them look for alternatives to remain competitive in the market. In view of this, studies on dynamic capabilities and their microfoundations have become important in seeking to know what actions companies have taken to face a crisis. The present work aimed to analyze the dynamic capabilities and their respective microfoundations that helped adapt during the Covid-19 pandemic (2020-2021) in three industries in Vale do Rio dos Sinos (RS). In order to meet the objective of the study, the dynamic capabilities and microfoundations proposed by Teece (2007) were used as a reference. The research is classified in multiple case study, qualitative approach, data collection with semi-structured interviews. The analysis of empirical data was performed using the NVivo software. The results showed the identification of dynamic capabilities, which were categorized into sensing, seizing and reconfiguration, as well as, it was possible to identify the microfoundations that helped in business adaptation during the pandemic, such as layout adjustments and distancing of people, using government measures to maintaining employment or opting for shift work.
