Abstract

The following paper intends to analyze the historical development of the legal rules in Athens from the 6th to 4th centuries B.C. It develops its argument through the discussion between transcendence and immanence of the law in the passage from the Greek thesmós to nómos. Finally, it argues that in Aristotle lies the possible synthesis of this discussion.

Keywords: thesmós, nómos, law, Aristotle, Athenian democracy.
