Abstract

The article deals with the symbolic city. It presents epistemological clues to understanding the city as a sensory experience in its symbolic and cultural arrangements. Here we propose a walk through the city exploring it from the perspective of the individual, of the being, of the body. We deal with the experience of the five senses in the context of the city: hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch, and we propose a construction of meanings between the subjects that communicate in the city and between the subject and the city.

Thiago Tavares das Neves, Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM)

Pós-doutorando pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação e Praticas de Consumo da ESPM. Doutor e Mestre em Ciências Sociais pelo Programa de Pós Graduação em Ciências Sociais da UFRN. Possui graduação em Rádio e TV e em Jornalismo (2011) também pela UFRN. Participante do grupo de Estudos Transdisciplinares em Comunicação e Cultura - Marginália. Pesquisador do grupo JUVENÁLIA - Culturas juvenis: comunicação, imagem, política e consumo da ESPM.Tem experiência na área de Comunicação, com ênfase em Comunicação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: corpo; afetos; epistemologia da complexidade; festas de música eletrônica; tecnologia; antropologia urbana. Sócio da Intercom e participante do GT Comunicação e Culturas Urbanas desde 2008.

Mestre em Estudos da Mídia (PPgEM/UFRN), graduado em Comunicação Social - Jornalismo (UFRN) e Direito (UnP), advogado (OAB/RN 5787). Membro da Academia Cearamirinense de Letras e Artes, sócio efetivo do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Norte (IHGRN). Escritor e pesquisador, escreveu, publicou e organizou diversos livros (www.gustavosobral.com.br). Foi Diretor de Biblioteca, Arquivo e Museu do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Norte (IHGRN). Atualmente, é editor e integra o Conselho Editorial da Revista do IHGRN, e presidente da Fundação Cultural Nilo Pereira em Ceará-Mirim. Além disso, trabalha com organização e edição de livros e revistas.
