Abstract

This paper studies the communication research in Brazil and the feminist and women’s approaches in this knowledge production context. For this, it considers the articles presented at major scientific events in Brazil, dissertations and theses deposited in the Banco de Teses da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – CAPES between the years 2005 and 2014. From the theoretical framework of Feminist Epistemology and Communication, the general purpose of the paper is to map the objectives concerning the research in communication when its themes are articulated with aspects of feminism and women. The methodological perspective that guides this study is cartography. The observation of 75 papers, whose abstracts were analyzed, reveals a visibility potential of women in communication. Aspects such as the subjects’ experiences, politics and representations also point to the possibilities of producing knowledge for social transformation of these two areas.

Keywords: communication, feminism, woman, research, cartography.
