The uniform as a representative object in health care area

Abstract

It inserts in the scope of the studies of the material culture, setting the uniform in Health Care area as an object of study. It is aimed to analyze the significance of this clothing as an element which is present in the formation of the image of the companies in human relations professionals and corporate identity. It is based in bibliographical research, costume analysis and interview. It is discussed how these artefacts are noticed and interpreted in the internal and external relations to the professionals and the use of the uniform as a contradictory form of homogenization and of a distinction of social classes. It concludes that for the company, this costume represents a group of concepts, statements and explanations; it is interpreted as derived of the identity of the area. For the professionals of the area, it attributes characteristics and traits of individuality of this group and at the same time becomes a symbol of status and social differentiation and segregation inside of the own group according to the function or position that the individual occupies.
