The aim of this article is to make a critical assessment of the main trends in studies on Brazilian journalism with an historical perspective. Identifying, at first, the recurrences of theories and concepts on these studies, the proposal is to construct a history of communication treated as a system, in which multiple questions are implied. Among them, one can highlight the adoption of parameters from the theory of history, the understanding of the narrative nature of historical descriptions and, above all, the adoption of the notion of communicational systems.Downloads
