The Special Issue on Design and Sustainability of the Strategic Design Research Journal (SDRJ) invites contributions addressing the strategic role of Design in responding to today’s complex socio-environmental challenges. In light of climate change, resource scarcity, and social inequality, Design is increasingly recognized as a catalyst for transition, regeneration, and systemic innovation. This issue welcomes theoretical, methodological, and applied research exploring themes such as design for sustainable transitions, regenerative and circular design, social innovation, biodesign, health and well-being, governance, education, and emerging territorial practices. The aim is to advance critical perspectives and visionary approaches that position Design as a transformative agent for sustainable and equitable futures.
