This paper presents a participatory business plan, made for improving the commercialization of Brazil nuts by gatherers of the Botos Agroextractivist Settlement, located in the municipality of Humaitá, in the south of the state of Amazonas. The plan’s objective is to identify strategies for the expansion of family income from the sustainable exploitation of chestnut, as well as the adoption of measures that favor the conservation of natural resources. The article presents a methodology of participatory planning as a viable tool for public projects or programs that aim to improve and / or implement social and environmental community businesses in areas of rural settlements in the Amazon.
