El presente artículo analiza la realidad de los niños sirvientes en el contexto del trabajo infantil durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, en las ciudades de Concepción y Santiago de Chile. El objetivo principal de esta investigación es comprender, por medio de la revisión de fuentes como la prensa local y documentos oficiales, el impacto que el trabajo infantil, particularmente el de los sirvientes, tuvo en la sociedad de la época y su evolución dentro del proceso de modernización chileno, entendiendo este como un periodo de masivas migraciones campo-ciudad, del nacimiento de una marginalidad urbana y de un ambiente de violencia generalizado.
