Abstract

This article discusses the object of communication from Lacanian semiotics. Part of the identification of the field of Communication and the difficulty of defining its object. The study has as a presupposition the theory of Jacques Lacan on the sign notion, in which it goes back to the linguist Ferdinand de Saussure. With emphasis on the signifier, the meaning is always polysemous, as if it were driven by a force that does not allow itself to be symbolized - the Real. The hypothesis is that the field of communication is marked by an encounter with the Real, and this is what incessantly mobilizes the communication practice. In this sense, the thesis is reinforced that the object of communication is the social bond, elapsed from the sense engendered in the signifying chain. Thus, we try to show, in this theoretical study, that the impossibility of defining the object of communication is also the power of the field.
