Directed by Mauricio Eça, Carrossel 2 – O Sumiço de Maria Joaquina (Carousel 2 – The disappearance of Maria Joaquina, 2016) continues Carrossel, O Filme (Carousel, The Movie, 2015), which is derived from the telenovela Carrossel (Carousel, 2012-2013). The plot is about the revenge of the villains from the first film: they come out of jail and kidnap Maria Joaquina, proposing riddles and physical tests that children should take to get rescue of the classmate. In order to analyze the appropriations of The Writer’s Journey, by Christopher Vogler, through the movie, this work is another part of the studies initiated to understand the consistency of this macronarrative and its consequent impact on the Brazilian cultural scene.
