This research aims at comparing the journalistic framework of the Gazeta do Povo in the coverage of three conflicts recorded in Paraná (Brazil) that have as a common point the struggle for land: Guerrilla de Porecatu (1947-1951), Rise of the Squatters of 1957 and the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (1990s). The methodology used to achieve this objective is that of the news framework, using the generic frames as proposed by Semetko and Valkenburg (2000) and Iyengar (1991), in order to observe and problematize techniques and strategies adopted by the said communication vehicle. The results indicate that the journal’s news coverage has changed little over the four decades separating the Guerrilla de Porecatu and the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement, favoring episodic (Iyengar, 1991) and conflict (Semetko and Valkenburg, 2000) frames.
