Self Portrait: The photography in performance

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the photographic self portrait. Therefore, we sought to understand such practice of representation by linking it to the concepts of performance and photography-expression, proposed by André Rouille. The analysis of some images extracted from the work of the Portuguese photographer Jorge Molder will help us in the structuring of ideas proposed, establishing dialogues in this reflective exercise in which we launched ourselves. In addition to theoretical and aesthetic reflections, this paper will address historical aspects of photography in order to contextualize some key changes in their periods, schools and styles.

Osmar Gonçalves dos Reis Filho, Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) - Programa de Pós-graduação em Comunicação Social (PPGCOM-UFC)

Osmar Gonçalves é doutor em Comunicação pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), com bolsa-sanduíche na Bauhaus Universität-Weimar (Alemanha), financiada pelo DAAD/CAPES. Atualmente, faz pós-doutorado na Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3) com bolsa CAPES. É membro do Programa de Pós-graduação em Comunicação da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) e professor Adjunto II dos Cursos de Comunicação e Cinema e Audiovisual da UFC, concentrado principalmente nas áreas de fotografia, teoria da imagem e estética do audiovisual. É um dos coordenadores do Grupo de Pesquisa Vilém Flusser e membro do LEEA - Laboratório de Estudos e Experimentação em Audiovisual. Organizou os livros Narrativas Sensoriais: ensaios sobre cinema e arte contemporânea (Circuito, 2014), ganhador do Prêmio FUNARTE de Estímulo à Produção Crítica em Artes Visuais e, junto com Susana Dobal, Fotografia Contemporânea: fronteiras e transgressões (Casa das Musas, 2013).

Mestranda em Comunicação e Linguagens, na linha de Fotografia e Audiovisual. Pesquisa as potências estéticas e políticas da imagem fotográfica, em suas diversas relações com o teatro e a performance.
