Abstract

The communication practices in the cyberspace are inserted in the everyday and they are changing the way that people interact with the others (and with the world). However, they are challenging to the reflections, mainly, about their effects. Based on this view, the article aims to identify and to analyze the discoursive ethos of Marina Silva considering her discursive strategies on interface with the discourses of citizens and of the media. The theoretical framework is anchored in three categories: (i) representation and discourse, (ii) cyberspace and memory, and finally, (iii) the notion of ethos. This research is exploratory and has bibliographic and documentary focus, beyond discourse analysis. The corpus consists of the membership speech given by Marina Silva on Youtube, the comments of the news at the post in the blog “Minha Marina”, and matters disclosed in the pages of Estadão and Folha Online. From the corpus analysis is possible seen that although the ethos of credibility has been negatively impacted, but the ethos of identification, related to the character, intelligence and humanity is predominant.

Keywords: ethos, cyberspace, Marina Silva.
