Marshall McLuhan 40 anos depois: a mídia como a lógica de dois tempos

Abstract

This article intends to make an analysis on Marshal McLuhan’s main reflections from the impact caused by his most well-known book – Understanding Media: The Extension of Man - , 40 years after its publishing. Though it is marked by the trend the book itself began in the 60’s, everything indicates that the Canadian professor recognized with a sharpen sensibility two dimensions of the media: its referential role as fundamental element of culture history and its importance in the contemporary society’s crisis.
