Theoretical anomalies in the modern conception of Brazilian audiovisual
Abstract
The historiography of Brazilian cinema, which is mainly inspired by modernism, does not effectively characterize a group of films and TV programs that, because of their paradoxical combination of classical and modern elements, are treated as anomalies. One of the aspects involved is the way in which those works combine naturalistic and antinaturalistic or typically cinematographic and televisional components. The proposal of approaching them according to Linda Hutcheon’s perspective solves part of the problem, but implies the need for a new research program to re-examine Brazilian audiovisual history.
Key words: audiovisuals, postmodernism, modernism.Downloads
