Latin American identities in Porto Alegre and Barcelona, interculturality and media
Abstract
This article is based on the research project Media and Interculturality (CAPES/MECD), carried out between 2004 and 2008 with Latin American and European migrants in the metropolitan areas of Porto Alegre and Barcelona by the research groups PROCESSOCOM, MIGRACOM and Media and Multiculturalism. The investigation dealt with theories, reports, databases, statistics and media texts, but it gave special attention to the testimonials of the historical subjects who are the protagonists of these relevant adventures of contemporary survival. Its goal was to increase knowledge about the production of cultural identities, communication skills and creation of meaning in settings of estrangement, configured in inter-relationship with industrial media systems.
Key words: Latin American identities, media processes, migrations.Downloads
