RBS’s Strategies and Challenges in the digital scenery
Abstract
The RBS Group is one of the most important conglomerates of communication of Brazil. It conquered hegemony in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina due to its awareness of the partner-economical- technological-cultural changes caused by the contemporary and monopolistic phases of capitalism. With a competent business administration, the group has chosen the best techniques and options for generating profitability and economic expansion being able to face the competition which has been fierce since the end of the 20th century due to the increase of the offer of channels of information. New challenges are set to happen beginning in 2008, Record’s direct participation in the State since 2007 and RBS’s implementation of digital TV should bring meaningful transformations to the television market, demanding infrastructure and content investments.
