The popular and the radio “reading”: a study of reception between young peasants
Abstract
This text aims at understanding how the identity of young participants of the Movimento dos Atingidos por Barragens (MAB) is constituted through the process of radio reception. The receptors interpretations of radio are explored based on the mediation categories of social movement and every-day life, inspired by Reception Latinoamerican Studies and etnographic approach. In a broader sense, the hegemonic process is at stake: the social movement defends its interests against the radio stations and the companies involved in the construction of Barra Grande Hydroeletric Dam.
