Information and humor out of the closet:
an analysis of the “Põe na Roda” Channel and the gay press modality in Brazil
Abstract
This article aims to make a brief analysis of the Youtube channel “Põe Na Roda”, one of the most important vehicles of information with LGBTI+ content in Brazil. The channel is available on multiple digital platforms such as Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and news websites. It is a current outstanding channel of the new Brazilian “Gay Press”. This work is based on the notes of authors such as Manuel Castells about network society, Ciro Marcondes Filho with a brief history of the phases of journalism until the arrival of the internet, Gay Press and Specialized Journalism by Jorge Caê Rodrigues and Ana Carolina Abiahy. This article analyzes how content is disseminated on different platforms and what are the similarities and differences with what was done with the gay press in the past.
