This paper aims to investigate the Compós’ WG papers: Epistemology of Communication and Communication and Cyberculture. The objective is to test the hypothesis that the field of communication in Brazil is still not very sensitive to neomaterialists theories, and that approaches to objects and to the field as a whole are developed under an anthropocentric perspective. 60 papers were analyzed. The data show that among the 37 texts with evident epistemological position, 62% are anthropocentric, and 13% non-anthropocentric, 50% are in Communication and Cyberculture WG, and 71% in Epistemology of Communication WG. Due to the non-probabilistic approach used in this investigation, we cannot generalize the findings. However, the results support our hypothesis, pointing out that although it is rising, anthropocentric perspectives still predominate.
Keywords: Communication. Anthropocentrism. Compós. Neomaterialism.
