This article aims to discuss the manifestations of what may be termed the “algorithmic norm” on digital platforms. This concept describes the production of material and discursive apparatuses that seek to orient/normalize content and behaviors within these systems, translating visibility as a value that can only be reached by following these standards (Araújo, 2017; 2018a). To this end, texts from the Get Discovered by YouTube Creator Academy course are analyzed. As the result of this analysis, it is possible to observe the emergence of the view of the algorithm as a single and unified entity that just reacts to the audience’s choice as an intermediary.
