Resumen

This essay analyzes the importance of the concept of edification for the project of a “second ethics” in Kierkegaard’s thinking. For that purpose, it discusses the concept of edification itself, relating it to other existential categories developed throughout the works of Kierkegaard and more specifically to its role in the triad love, inwardness and edifying. In this sense, the essay deals with the project of an existential ethics radically based on the notion of otherness, in which the existing person realizes him/herself by becoming conscious of the dialectics of gift and task. This act of becoming conscious, in turn, renders the individual, as understood by Kierkegaard, a being-for-others.

Key words: edification, second ethics, love, otherness.
