Is the “categorical imperative” an instrument for peace?
Abstract
The objective of this article is to contemplate the role the “categorical imperative” plays in Kant’s moral theory. We aim to re-establish its definition and its statute as a supreme criterion of morality, not only in modernity but also in present time. Any proposal concerning peace and coexistence in contemporary society demands moral criteria that help to exceed its cultural and geographic borders. Morality based in concrete and universal criterion becomes an important issue nowadays. It is necessary to emerge this kind of reflection to help us to face the several “moral” that surround us and seem to conduct social relations.
