This is an informative review of the Brazilian edition of a youth work by the Polish sociologist and philosopher Zygmunt Bauman. In the book in focus, the author addresses hermeneutics and its importance for the human and social sciences, dedicating ten essays to problems in the social sciences that challenge authors in whose thinking the hermeneutic element is identified. Thus, authors such as Dilthey, Weber, Heidegger, Schütz are analysed in their contributions to the theme.
