The digital transformation of the economy that underlies the hybridization of interdependent phenomena such as blockchain, cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the Metaverse is generating a considerable increase in social complexity and, with it, human vulnerability. The intended or unintended consequences of this new hyperconnected, algorithmic, datafied and virtualized economic context are not always socially and humanly acceptable, especially for the most vulnerable groups in society. Therefore, the objective of this study is to delve into the basic aspects and the ethical demands that underlie such phenomena.
