About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The journal Estudos Tecnológicos em Engenharia publishes scientific, theoretical, experimental and review articles by national and international researchers on various topics in the Food Engineering, Electrical, Civil, Mechanics and Production, and other related engineering areas.
The target audience are scientists, researchers, graduate students, undergraduate students in the phase of completion work and professionals in various related fields, considering the following topics:
1. Process optimization for waste minimization:
This theme seeks the optimization of processes aiming at minimizing solid waste generation through studies of cleaner production, rationalization, durability and economic viability. Waste from civil works (originated in the planning, design, execution, use and final disposal stages), household waste and residues originating from other industrial sectors such as metal-mechanics, food, electrical, leather-footwear, among others that have potential for their control, minimization and reuse in the process of origin are also studied. Other relevant topics such as sustainable processes, cleaner production in the industry, energy efficiency, material characterization, process and product life cycle analysis, and urban waste management are part of this theme.
2. Recycling and final disposal of waste:
This theme seeks the study and development of new materials, by means of the elaboration of alternatives of reutilization or recycling of solid residues coming from diverse sectors aiming its industrial valorization. It also investigates processes of final disposal of different urban solid waste seeking mechanisms of environmental sustainability.
3. Energy
This topic deals with the use of energy and the efficiency of energy conversion, from fundamental scientific papers to technological aspects of energy and the environment. Work in this area may be relate to air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems, multiphase flow, power plants, cogeneration, internal combustion engines, combustion, gasification, propulsion, energy conversion systems and processes, energy system analysis and optimization, thermal machines and equipment, instrumentation in the thermal sciences, alternative and renewable energies, transport phenomena and turbo machines.
4. Design, manufacture and production:
This topic focuses on the product involving the different stages or tools of the development process. Topics such as product development, industrial design, manufacturing systems, integrated CAD, CAM, CAPP and CIM systems, recycling and environmental impact, logistics, production management systems. In addition to basic research in solids mechanics, structures and material selection are also included in this area.
5. Manufacturing, service and logistics operations management:
This topic includes the planning, management and control of productive operations, including forecasting of demands, supply of materials, programming, sequencing, processing of activities and control through information systems. It also includes activities of qualitative or quantitative modeling of production systems and associated logistics operations and their impact on customers and markets.
6. Strategy and organizations:
This topic includes the processes of analysis and formulation of strategies of operation or production. Topics related to competition environment analysis, modeling of competitive factors, formulation of interorganizational cooperation strategies, modeling strategies for performance measurement, business mission considerations and succession and institutional control aspects of organizations. Interorganizational arrangements, such as cooperation networks and production chains and logistics, systemic and complexity approaches can also be presented.
7. Power Processing:
This topic covers technologies and processes used in the generation, transmission and distribution of electric energy, as well as its electronic conversion along with its final use.
8. Information Processing:
This topic includes areas that involve signal processing applied to different areas, such as communication systems, automation, instrumentation and control applications.
9. Science and Technology of Foods
This topic addresses the characterization of new raw materials and ingredients, identification of new components or contaminants, evaluation of typical products, development, improvement or evaluation of processes and equipment for obtaining traditional foods or new products. Innovations and topics such as functional foods, quality and food safety are also topics of interest. In this sense, the topic also involves the development of biotechnological products and processes of interest to the food industry, such as: microorganism culture processes, metabolism, kinetics and mathematical models, industrial substrates, media preparation, industrial sterilization and the isolation of microorganisms with industrial interest.
