Definitions of peace as a social and political phenomenon are based on studies that present their own concepts and specific epistemological components. They empirically state nature and social function of peace. Education for Peace, as a continuous and dynamic pedagogical process, constitutes its own field of knowledge, which aims to build culture and pedagogy of peace as a system. The main goal is to describe the landmarks that generated Education for Peace, its evolution and imprint in human action, in an attempt to identify ways to train the pacifist educator in her work in the educational field, as well as in their global action and in the commitment to life in all its senses. Considering these guidelines, descriptive research was carried out, accompanied by a bibliographic survey of the state of the art. We point out readings correlated to the historical course of Education for Peace, going through its objectives and ethical nature, with the aim of interpreting desirable ways of creating commitments towards the challenge of Education for Peace as an ethical imperative for the common well-being.
