Recreation of the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe for the animation of The Simpsons
Abstract
This paper analyzes the process of recreation of the poem ‘The Raven’ by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) in the episode ‘Treehouse I’ (Silverman, 1990) from ‘The Simpsons’ series. The extra materials or bonuses offered on the DVD, such as making of, storyboards, explanatory comments and directors’ interviews, as well as the assembling, dubbing and exhibition planning of the episode are valuable in this study. The study also emphasizes the importance of observing spaces of creation in animation and the implications of creation as an intersemiotic process.
Key words: The Raven, The Simpsons, recreation.Downloads
