Language policy and language teaching
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to introduce a discussion on the relevance of language policy to the teaching of language. To do so, I make use of language variation because it is one of the axes on which the issues of education are based. Despite the progress of language studies in the construction of a pedagogy of reading and text production, our great challenge now is the elaboration of a pedagogical approach for language variation. Searching for theoretical underpinnings to this debate, I discuss this topic in order to reflect about the need of equipping a language for it to perform certain functions, and the implications of such actions to qualify education.
Key words: language teaching, language policy, pedagogical approach for language variation.Downloads
