Abstract

In this work the concept of intertextuality proposed by Sant’Anna (2003) is discussed specifically through the characterizationof the paraphrastic and parodystic axes of the language, reflecting on relations that the author elaborates with some assumptions of the psychoanalytic theory. We developed the Sant’Anna’s idea that the parodystic axis is a re-presentation of what had been repressed by the subject, i.e., an entirely new and different way of reading the conventional, of becoming aware and of releasing the speech. According to Sant’Anna, in parodies there is more than the functions of humor and criticism because they express a desire that the subject repressed and could be expressed through the parodystic processes.

Key words: intertextuality, parodystic axis, psychoanalysis
