The population aging is a demographic reality in the whole world. This scenario demands attention to health issues which affect the over sixty-year-old population. In this perspective, the Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) stands out because of its alarming prognostics and for being a neurodegenerative disease without cure (MC MADE; BATEMAN, 2017). In order to emphasize what happens in the interaction with people living with AD and not only highlight the language deficits, this article seeks to analyze the oral narratives that emerge in an interaction with a person diagnosed with the disease. The qualitative interviews (MISHLER, 1986), the model of narrative’s dimensions advocated by Ochs and Capps (2001), and the model of analysis’ blades from Biar, Orton and Bastos (2021) constitute the theoretical-methodological apparatus to investigate the processes of meaning construction and the emergence of discourses about the mother’s role in the narrative. In order to do that, we also based ourselves in the Goffman’s (1974) concept of frames. The results point, even with the difficulties caused by the disease, the participant was able to keep active in the interaction, bringing recurrent discourses in the society which she is part of and demonstrating her positioning in relation to her conception of motherhood, by the frame “the son is from the mother”.
